A big thank you to Mitchell Johnson, my son in-law, who in spite of his busy schedule attended the event and made this 1st tournament a memorable experience for parents and participants alike.

I was delighted when my granddaughter enthusiastically assisted me with the peewee medal presentation. As many off you know I consider the peewee events the most important events in the tournament. This is where our future elite athletes all started.
I wish to thank those involved in the diverse range of roles from our Tournament Director – Phil Boon, Announcer – Gavin Forrest, Lita Bromwich – head scorer, Medal Presenter – Vignette Forrest, Photography – Sharni Forrest and Andrija Obradovic, Martial Arts Shop – Jo Esteban and Heather Healy, Administrator – Jenny Stone, Cheryl Morgan—staff co-ordinator, Area manager – Nives Bratich. Finally thanks to all the volunteers who helped setup and pack away the equipment.

A special thanks to all the referees, coaches, marshals and scorers who worked hard all day and without their time and commitment we couldn’t have a tournament. Our younger black belts who coordinated peewees and novice events, warmed up athletes, marshaled and tied up lots of belts. They are wonderful role models.

I would also like to once again thank our tournament doctor David Young, who has dedicated many years to the care of Australia’s athletes. Finally a big thanks to Sarah Williamson our trained nurse who supported David Young.
